15 Point Protection Guide

The HVAC industry standards are not strong enough. NorthRock Mechanical Services has compiled a strict code of adherence in a 15 Point Protection Guide. The purpose of this Protection Guide is to outline what all HVAC companies must comply with, in order to earn your business and protect your interests.

  1. LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY
    Most HVAC companies carry a bare minimum insurance policy of 2 million dollars which is insufficient in today’s economy. NorthRock Mechanical’s policy is 10 million dollars to protect your facility and interests.
  2. LICENSING
    It is a mandatory governmental requirement that all HVAC companies have valid Metro Licensing, TSSA (Technical Safety Standard Association) credentials and up to date WSIB documentation. NorthRock Mechanical will provide you with this information in your first meeting and at any time upon your request. If you already have an existing service provider, we strongly recommend that you call and request this documentation.
  3. LICENSED COMPANY TECHNICIANS
    There are far too many HVAC companies using sub-contractors for your company’s servicing and repair requirements. This causes poor response time, unqualified workmanship and a loss of accountability. NorthRock Mechanical has in their employment, licensed technicians with both refrigeration licenses and up-to-date gas certification.
  4. ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE WITH REFRIGERANT DISPOSAL REGULATIONS
    The environment is one of our primary interests. NorthRock Mechanical requires that all technicians must have current ODP cards and comply with all refrigerant disposal regulations.
  5. REPAIR VALIDATION
    HVAC companies should not be evasive about sharing information and explaining their diagnosis. Upon request, our technicians will use digital cameras to validate and prove our diagnosis or another company’s diagnosis. Our technicians welcome your presence on service/repair calls and will validate your repairs, show you the faulty parts and recommend a course of action.
  6. WARRANTY CLAIMS
    Warranties are a very important part of service and repair protection. Does your present HVAC Company honour all of the warranty claims immediately with suppliers? NorthRock Mechanical provides all warranties, in writing, in the Work Order or in the written quotation.
  7. INDUSTRIAL/COMMERCIAL GRADE TOOLS & EQUIPMENT
    Poor workmanship and quality of service are often related to the type of tools and equipment used by your present HVAC Company. NorthRock Mechanical provides the technicians with quality tools and safety equipment eliminating potential accidents and further damage to your HVAC equipment.
  8. SAFETY COMPLIANCY
    All NorthRock technicians must be WHIMIS trained to ensure safe working practices.
  9. PRICING VALIDATION
    It is very important to know, in detail, what your company will be provided with, and at what cost. Quotations should not be complicated and should be representative of exactly what your Company’s “bottom-line” costs will be. NorthRock Mechanical provides detailed and summarized quotations, in a format that is upfront with both competitive pricing and integrity. Emergency repairs are quoted and delivered the same day.
  10. LABOUR CONTROLS
    HVAC companies are accountable for the time that technicians spend on all service calls. It is recommended that you audit labour time spent on each service call to insure proper billing information. NorthRock Mechanical provides time and material information on each Work Order. Our technicians will provide a complete overview of work completed.
  11. COMPANY LOGO
    All HVAC service vehicles must carry their Company name, telephone number and TSSA numbers to establish authenticity with their business.
  12. ACCESSIBLE COMMUNICATION
    Imperative to any HVAC business is the speed in which service calls can be received and processed back to the customer. Answering machines can waste valuable time and customer urgency is put on “hold”. For quick response time, NorthRock answers all calls live and immediately dispatches a service person for a technical diagnosis.
  13. ENGINEERING & SOLUTIONS
    HVAC systems are not based on guess work. Mechanical engineers utilize load calculations and base solutions on industry standards. NorthRock Mechanical consults with our in-house Mechanical Engineer to check designs and to provide workable drawings with comprehensive project solutions.
  14. CONTINUOUS TRAINING & EDUCATION
    Ask your present HVAC service provider what training they have on their schedule this year for their technicians. All manufacturers offer training programs and reputable HVAC companies plan for ongoing training. NorthRock Mechanical supports and initiates training programs to keep technicians up to date with industry regulations, new equipment and improvements in diagnostic procedures.
